Practicing self-compassion means approaching ourselves with the same kindness we extend to others such as our family and friends. Research shows that practicing self-compassion is a powerful tool for motivation and is strongly related to psychological well-being, including increased life satisfaction and resilience and decreased anxiety and depression. Join us this Be Well, Be Safe week to explore what self-compassion means for you!
The following interactive workshop will discuss:
- the three elements of self-compassion: self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness
- what results in us experiencing self-judgement and self-criticism
- viewing self-compassion as an anti-oppressive practice that can reduce self-stigma
- the Cognitive-Behavioural model and how thinking traps may reduce our self-compassion
- ways we can reduce thinking traps to foster self-compassion
