Conservation governance researcher Dr. Robin Roth contributed a commentary with co-author and PhD student Emmanuel Tamufor for The Conversation Canada in which they discussed their hopes for the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity

They wrote that it is “vital” that conservation practices are planned and conducted in collaboration with Indigenous Peoples.

“The targets set at COP15 cannot be met without Indigenous leadership,” they wrote.

The piece appeared in several publications, including the National Post and Yahoo! News Canada.

Roth is a professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics in the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences and the principal investigator of the IPCA Knowledge Basket, a platform co-hosted by U of G’s Conservation through Reconciliation Partnership.
