Dr. Ann Pegoraro, the Lang Chair of Sport Management in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, spoke to various CBC News outlets to offer comments on a series of missteps and controversies facing Canada Soccer.
Pegoraro discussed a salary dispute between the men’s and women’s teams with The Early Edition with Stephen Quinn on CBC Radio Vancouver, saying if the women’s team pools its winnings with the men’s, it could see “a significant increase in winnings and salaries.”
Speaking with CBC Business, Pegoraro noted the controversies facing Canada Soccer have cast a shadow over what should have been “one of the best moments in Canadian soccer history from the business perspective.”
The director of the International Institute for Sport Business and Leadership, Pegoraro researches gender equity, sport consumers, marketing and communication and is also the co-director of the National Network for Research on Gender Equity in Canadian Sport.
