Ecologist Dr. Ryan Norris recently commented on the potential environmental impacts of a proposed Ontario highway to several media outlets, including The Globe and Mail, Radio-Canada, Outdoor Canada, CityNews Toronto and AM640’s The Alan Carter Radio Program. His comments also appeared in an article by YorkRegion.com, which was republished by the Toronto Star.

Highway 413 would go through the York, Peel and Halton Regions, and the Bradford Bypass would run from the County of Simcoe to the Regional Municipality of York. The routes would go through a swath of sensitive ecosystems, watersheds and farmland known collectively as the Greenbelt.

A research project led by Norris to reintroduce the endangered mottled duskywing butterfly back into the Pinery Provincial Park was also featured in The Globe and Mail, Global News, GuelphToday and CTV News Kitchener.

A professor in the Department of Integrative Biology, Norris researches the behaviour, conservation and evolution of migratory animals, birds and insects.
