Dr. Ann Pegoraro, the Lang Chair in Sport Management in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, spoke to CBC News Network about why women still lack opportunities in sport despite moves to make this past summer Olympic the most gender equal in history.
Pegoraro discussed some of the issues raised in a Conversation Canada commentary she co-wrote with Lang School of Business colleague Dr. Felix Arndt about what is still lacking to allow full inclusiveness at the Olympics. Those missing elements include more representation within governing bodies such as the IOC, and less regulation of women’s uniforms.
That commentary has appeared in numerous publications, including the National Post.
The co-director of the newly formed National Research Hub for Gender Equity in Sport, Pegoraro is professor in the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism at the Lang School of Business and Economics and researches sports marketing and communication along with gender equity in sport.
