The following updates are provided by the Return-to-Campuses steering committee.

The University of Guelph continues to prioritize physical distancing. Access to campus remains limited to those who need to be on campus. For now, staff, faculty and graduate students able to work from home will continue to do so.


Accessing the Library this Fall

The McLaughlin Library begins welcoming back current students, faculty and staff on Sept. 10. The first two floors of the library will be accessible with a maximum of 209 people in the building at one time. Please visit the library only if you need in-person services or facilities.

Visitors will be able to access:

  • Study space and computers
  • Printing and scanning
  • Book pickup and return
  • Print course reserves

If you come to the library, you must:

  • Enter through the accessible entrance (to the right of the main doors) on Winegard Walk
  • Use your U of G ID card to enter the building
  • Wear a face covering and maintain 2m of physical distance
  • Disinfect your workspace before and after use with provided supplies

Athletics Centre: Ready to Welcome You Back

The U of G Athletics Centre begins its phased reopening today. They are excited to welcome you back!

There are steps you must take before you visit the Athletics Centre to help keep our community safe. Learn more on U of G’s Return to Campuses website.

From Aug. 27 to 30, you can visit the Athletics Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for:

  • Client services (also available by phone at 519-824-4120, Ext. 56253)

Starting Aug. 31, the Athletics Centre will be open for:

  • Reserved access to fitness centre cardio and weight equipment*
  • Some recreational activities

    *membership required

Apps for Your Safety

All faculty, staff and students are strongly encouraged to download the Safe Gryphon app and the Government of Canada’s COVID Alert app.

Beginning next week, the Safe Gryphon app will provide you with access to the new U of G COVID-19 Screening Form. When the form launches next week, you must complete it every day before you come to campus. More info on the U of G COVID-19 Screening Form will be available next week.

The COVID Alert app can let you know of possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus before any symptoms appear.
