Dear U of G students, faculty and staff,
As I mentioned in my last update, we are engaged in dialogue with the group who has indicated they are leading the encampment. University representatives met with the group earlier this week for an initial discussion.
Communication is ongoing with plans to meet again to share our proposals related to their demands. We are focused on continuing to have constructive dialogue with the goal of achieving a peaceful resolution that is in line with University principles and policies.
Our priority remains the health and safety of our University community. Our Campus Safety Office continues to monitor the situation to ensure the encampment remains peaceful.
I recognize the range of emotions and opinions regarding the encampment and the encampment members’ demands. I am also aware of the toll this situation is taking on members of our University community. We remain focused on supporting the well-being of our students, faculty and staff.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we navigate a peaceful resolution to this situation.
