Fueling engagement and driving an inclusive and collaborative culture is a priority for U of G’s Human Resources (HR) team. We are in an exciting chapter of our HR journey as we continue to invest in our talent and embrace innovative solutions and services, designed to better support the needs of our valued faculty and staff.  

Building on this momentum, I am pleased to welcome Elaine Do Rosario as the new AVP and Chief Human Resources Officer, effective May 6.

As an experienced Senior Human Resources leader in both the public and private sectors, Elaine joins us from Halton Healthcare, a regional hospital which encompasses three sites: Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, Milton District Hospital & Georgetown Hospital.  Elaine completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo, holds a Strategic HR Leadership (SHRL) Certification and is currently pursuing a Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) designation.  Since 2018, Elaine has served as the Director, Human Resources, where she led a comprehensive portfolio including talent acquisition, workforce development, organizational development and culture strategies. Her notable achievements include delivering programs such as Leadership Development; Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Education; Performance Appraisal and Management; and Change and Transformation Management.  

“I am thrilled to join the University of Guelph and look forward to building on the great work that the HR team has well underway”, shared Elaine. “Over the coming weeks, my focus will be on getting to know the HR team better and becoming engrained in key initiatives such as HRMS. We have an ambitious portfolio and I’m confident we will deliver positive results.” 

As we move forward, HR will remain focused on creating and sustaining partnerships that enable U of G to achieve its vision through innovative and supportive people practices, including cultivating sound core leadership and management practices.  We continue to strive to be a leader in fostering excellence, productivity, respect and fairness as we work to strengthen the University’s ability to attract, develop and retain talent in this diverse, work and learning environment.
