Dr. Scott Weese, veterinary infectious disease specialist in the Ontario Veterinary College, spoke to CNN this week about the spread of COVID-19 between humans and deer.

The virus is still spreading among humans, its preferred host, Weese explained.

“It’s hard to say whether deer constitute much of a risk in the grand scheme at this point,” he said.

Weese is a professor in the Department of Pathobiology, the chief of infection control at OVC, and the director of the Centre for Public Health and Zoonoses.
