Dr. Ann Pegoraro, professor of sport management at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, spoke to CBC Sports about the newly formed, unified, women’s professional hockey league.
From a business perspective, Pegoraro said the six-team league is an intriguing idea and that she’d like to see those teams settle in cities whose arenas have potential for growth.
“This is the time we’re seeing huge return on investments,” she said. “We know that the only place that you can get that kind of growth and return on your dollar right now is in women’s sports.”
The Lang Chair in Sport Management and director of the International Institute for Sport Business and Leadership, Pegoraro researches gender equity, sport consumers, marketing and communication.
