Joined by fellow Killam Prize winners, Dr. Ajay Heble, professor in the College of Arts, sat down with CBC Radio’s Ideas to discuss the distinguished honour.
Heble was recognized with a Killam Prize in the humanities for his work as director of U of G’s International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation (IICSI) and as a globally renowned scholar, visionary arts leader and innovative community builder.
A professor in the School of English and Theatre Studies, Heble is the founding artistic director of the Guelph Jazz Festival. Through IICSI, Heble has created a new field of critical theory focused on improvisation in music.
