Dr. Simon Somogyi against a crimson background
Dr. Simon Somogyi

Dr. Simon Somogyi, an agribusiness researcher in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, spoke to CBS News Pittsburgh affiliate KDKA about why the drop in commodity prices isn’t reflected on grocery store shelves.

Somogyi said it can take months to see commodity price drops in the grocery store, in part because both food manufacturers and grocery stores have hiked prices.

The Arrell Chair in the Business of Food and a professor in the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management, Somogyi researches agri-food value chain analysis and management.
