Dr. Craig Johnson, professor in the Department of Political Science, spoke with CBC News online about the current state of global lithium mining. 

Johnson, who leads a research team examining lithium mining, discussed the current supply chain of the important metal, from extraction to processing, and noted that China has become the world’s most important producer of lithium-ion batteries. 

Johnson researches environmental politics and global development, including the politics of mining for a renewable energy transition.
