Dr. Shayan Sharif, an avian immunologist in the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC), discussed with several media outlets the ongoing outbreaks of avian flu and the risks these outbreaks post.

Speaking to the Toronto Star, Sharif reviewed the risks H5N1 poses and how to protect oneself from infection. 

Appearing on an episode of The Agenda on TVO, Sharif emphasized the need for preparedness should it cause a human pandemic.  

Sharif is the associate dean of research and graduate studies at the OVC and a professor in the Department of Pathobiology where he researches poultry immunology.
