Ontario Agricultural College food economist Dr. Mike von Massow explained the causes of high food prices to CTVNews.ca.  

Von Massow said increased energy costs, transportation costs, labour shortages and the low Canadian dollar are all affecting prices. 

A professor in the Department of Food, Agriculture and Resource Economics von Massow researches retail and restaurant food demand, supply chain management, and value chain structure and performance.
