Ontario Veterinary College avian immunologist Dr. Shayan Sharif discussed why an outbreak of avian flu has been unpredictable this year with CBC Radio’s The Current.  

Sharif explained why avian flu “is a virus we cannot ignore” and how a One Health approach could help reduce further spread. 

Sharif is a professor in the Department of Pathobiology and the associate dean of research and graduate studies. He researches the chicken immunology, including avian influenza virus.
