A study led by Ontario Veterinary College researchers Dr. Andria Jones-Bitton, masters student Rochelle Thompson and postdoctoral fellow Dr. Briana Hagen was highlighted by several news outlets.  

Their research found the mental health of farmers is worse than it was five years ago, and three-quarters of farmers surveyed experiencing high levels of stress.  

Outlets that covered the research included: Radio Canada, CBC London’s Afternoon Drive, CBC’s What on Earth, CBC Kitchener-Waterloo, Global News Morning, and Ontario Farmer. 

A professor in the Department of Population Medicine, Jones-Bitton researches the epidemiology of mental health in veterinarians, veterinary students and agricultural producers.  

Hagen is a Mitacs Elevate Postdoctoral Fellow and Thompson is a member of Jones-Bitton’s research lab.
