Dr. Eric Lyons, the director of U of Gās Guelph Turfgrass Institute, provided tips and advice on how to care for lawns during a drought to The Weather Network.
Lyons said most grasses used in lawns can survive up to seven to nine weeks of drought but that property owners should only water their lawns once a week, if they want to keep their grass green.
A professor in the Department of Plant Agriculture, Lyons researches the stress physiology and management of turfgrasses.
