Dr. Dennis Baker, director of U of G’s criminal justice and public policy program, contributed a commentary to the Toronto Star on how Parliament could re-draft a section of the Criminal Code pertaining to the “extreme intoxication” defence.
“A new, carefully designed legislative standard would be to everyone’s benefit,” Baker wrote. “Such clarity would provide welcome guidance to future courts.”
A lawyer and a professor in the Department of Political Science, Baker researches a variety of issues related to constitutional and criminal law and politics.
