Dr. Jamie Gruman, a professor of organizational behaviour in the Department of Management, spoke to BBC News’ Worklife about whether there are benefits to offering employees surprise” pop-up” holidays.
Gruman said because surprise holidays are unexpected, employees often see them as a gift and an indicator their employers care for them.
“In a post-pandemic age, what employees want is to be taken care of not as just employees, but as people,” he said
A senior research fellow and graduate coordinator, Gruman is the author of Boost: The Science of Recharging Yourself in an Age of Unrelenting Demands.
