Dr. Maya Goldenberg, a professor in the Department of Philosophy who researches vaccine hesitancy, spoke to National Geographic about the ethical quandary of teens whose parents won’t let them get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Goldenberg, who specializes in the philosophy of science and medicine, said given that teens are at low risk of serious disease from COVID-19, some parents may not think the vaccine’s potential benefits are worth its risks.
Goldenberg’s book, Vaccine Hesitancy: Public Trust, Expertise, and the War on Science, was released earlier this spring.
