Dr. Maya Goldenberg, a professor in the Department of Philosophy, spoke to The Atlantic magazine about what it will take to convince the millions of Americans who are still undecided about whether to get one of the COVID-19 vaccines.
Goldenberg, who specializes in the philosophy of science and medicine, said what works best is to normalize vaccination.
“When vaccination becomes the norm, most people will do it unless they have a really strong inclination not to,” she said.
Goldenberg’s new book, Vaccine Hesitancy: Public Trust, Expertise, and the War on Science, was released earlier this month.
She also recently spoke to the new Toronto Star podcast “This Matters” about how to gently broach the topic of vaccination with family and friends.
