Leadership Updates

President Charlotte Yates, Vice-President (Research) Malcolm Campbell, Interim Provost and Vice-President (Academic) Gwen Chapman, and Associate Vice-President (Diversity and Human Rights) Indira Naidoo-Harris provided Senators with a number of updates including:

  • An update on the Anti-Racism Action Plan and the President’s Advisory Committee on Anti-Racism
  • The announcement of a new research centre – Dairy at Guelph Centre for Dairy Research and Innovation
  • An update on Fall 2020 enrolment levels
  • An update on research activities

2020-21 Senate Priorities

Senate approved its strategic priorities for 2020-21:

  • Building Our Global Reputation for Excellence
  • Program Innovation and Student Success
  • Financial Sustainability
  • Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Indigenization

The priorities reflect areas that will be of particular importance to Senate in providing oversight of educational policy and supporting the University’s academic mission.

By-election Results

The 2020-21 Senate by-elections concluded on October 2, 2020. The following students were elected or acclaimed:

  • Graduate Students
    • College of Social and Applied Human Sciences – Lisa Tang
  • Undergraduate Students
    • Bachelor of Arts – Jordan Latam
    • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture – Stephanie Fletcher
    • Bachelor of Engineering – Michael Chislett and Christopher McCaig
    • Bachelor of Bio-Resource Management – Aidan Doak
