The most recent U of G Board of Governors meeting was held October 21. Below are key highlights from the meeting. A full synopsis of the meeting is available on the University Secretariat’s website.

Audited Financial Statements Approved

The University’s audited financial statements are prepared by the University and reviewed by its audit firm, Ernst & Young (EY). Following this review, the Board approved the University’s audited statements for 2019-20.

Dr. Charlotte Yates and members of senior administration provided the Board with updates on a number of strategic initiatives including:

Membership Changes

The Board approved the appointment of a new governor and several committee members:

  • Joel Best, Information Technology Manager in the School of Engineering was appointed to the Board of Governors, effective December 1, 2020, replacing Gerrit Bos.
  • Greg Stevenson, an alumnus and co-founder of Principle Real Assets was appointed to the Investment Subcommittee, effective immediately, filling a vacant seat.
  • Steve Gismondi, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics was appointed to the Pensions Committee, effective immediately, replacing Scott Colwell.
  • Chris Lee, Manager (Information Technology Systems) in the College of Arts, was appointed to the Pensions Committee, effective immediately, replacing Dave Hargreaves.

The Board also said farewell and offered its sincere gratitude to Gerrit Bos, staff member of the Board of Governors, who will retire from the University later this year.
