The most recent U of G Senate meeting was held Oct. 7. Below are key highlights from the meeting. A full synopsis of the meeting is available on the University Secretariat’s website.

Schedule of Dates for 2020-21

The Academic Schedules of Dates for Summer 2020, Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 have been presented to Senate and will be posted on the Office of Registrarial Services’ website.

Full-time Grad Student Registration Cap

Effective Winter 2020, full-time graduate students will be limited to registering in 4.00 credits per semester (2.50 course credits + UNIV*7500). This limit is similar to the 1.25 credit cap (1.00 course credits + UNIV*7520) already in place for part-time graduate students.

The introduction of this new cap is intended to ensure fair access to courses, reduce the practice of course “sampling,” and allow academic units to more accurately predict and track demand. Full-time graduate students wishing to enroll in more than 4.00 credits can seek a waiver from their Graduate Program Coordinator.

Call for University Award Nominations

The Senate Honours and Awards Committee invites the University community to submit nominations for University Awards.

Details on the call for nominations, including the submission deadline, award criteria and the nomination form, can be found on the University Secretariat’s website.

The next meeting of Senate will take place on Monday, November 25 at 5:30 p.m. in OVC Lifetime Learning Centre Room 1714.
