The 2019 Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising Medallion will be awarded to two recipients this year: Prof. Carol Dauda and Lisa Blenkinsop.
Dauda has been a faculty adviser in the Department of Political Science for 12 years. Her nomination praised her development of a departmental peer contact program and other initiatives. Student letters supporting her nomination said she creates a positive, welcoming environment by building strong relationships with students and by treating them as her equal.
Lisa Blenkinsop has been faculty adviser for the international development major of the bachelor of arts degree program since 2017. Lisa’s nomination described her as “professional and kind in all of her communications and interactions.” Students described Lisa as available and welcoming and repeatedly said she goes beyond her job requirements.
Recipients were chosen by U of G’s Council on Undergraduate Academic Advising selection committee.
The annual award recognizes faculty advisers, program counsellors and academic advising administrators who have made an outstanding contribution to undergraduate academic advising at the University of Guelph.
Dauda and Blenkinsop will receive their award at the campus Community Breakfast in September.
