Prof. Jamie Gruman spoke to The Oprah Magazine on the subject of positivity.

Prof. Jamie Gruman, College of Business and Economics, was featured in an article about positive thinking in O, The Oprah Magazine.

Gruman, a professor of organizational behaviour in the Department of Management, co-authored the recent book Boost: The Science of Recharging Yourself in an Age of Unrelenting Demands.

The Dec. 26 article looks at ways we can become more positive in our outlook and attitudes. Gruman said some people are born naturally prone to positivity and see the world through rose-coloured glasses, while others are predisposed to see life in shades of grey.

No matter how we are wired, being more positive is a skill that can be learned, according to the article, which offers 12 tips to a more positive life.

Gruman studies positive organizational behaviour and the impact of resilience, hope and optimism.
