Prof. Mike Dixon was interviewed for a Nov. 17 Asia Times story about U of G’s Controlled Environment Systems Research Facility (CESRF) and its Space and Advanced Life Support Agriculture (SALSA) program.

The labs are an integral part of Canada’s contributions to plant research and development for space and closed environment-related activities, the article stated.

A professor in the School of Environmental Sciences and CESRF director, Dixon discussed aspects and applications of his research, from strengthening the science of cannabis production to growing plants for food in hostile environments.

As project leader of the Canadian research team investigating plants for life support in space, Dixon formed SALSA, which currently represents Canada’s primary contribution to international space science objectives in life support, and which collaborates with NASA and Canadian and European space agencies.
