Prof. Jamie Gruman published an article on June 4 in the Huffington Post about the importance of vacations and why some of us aren’t making the most of them.
A professor in U of G’s College of Business and Economics, Gruman says about 40 per cent of people come back from vacations feeling no better, or even worse, than before they left. He recommends planning vacation logistics, unplugging from electronic devices and returning a bit early so you aren’t rushing back to daily routines without some buffer time.
Gruman’s forthcoming book, Boost: The Science of Recharging Yourself in an Age of Unrelenting Demands, explores the best ways to disconnect and refresh in a hectic world. He studies positive psychology, well-being in the workplace and positive organizational behaviour among employees.
