U of G’s Arboretum director, Prof. Shelley Hunt, was interviewed for a University Affairs story about the history and function of university botanical gardens.
Hunt, a professor in U of G’s School of Environmental Sciences, discussed the Arboretum’s efforts to revitalize Ontario’s native trees. She said the 400-acre space is more than just a “tree zoo” and explained that U of G is working to grow threatened Ontario trees and create seed that can be shared. She noted that the Arboretum recently provided blue ash seed to tree nurseries doing restoration work in the wake of the emerald ash borer infestation.
