Prof. Sean Lyons was interviewed by Global News about Generation Z and prospects for careers and employment.
A professor in the Department of Management at U of G, Lyons said members of the Generation Z cohort are passionate but also practical and realistic. He says they’re better able to manage their finances because they’ve likely observed how their parents were impacted by the 2008 financial crisis.
He said employers will welcome their overall attitude and goals, which are more realistic than those of millennials whose big dreams and ambitions might be difficult to satisfy.
Lyons said Generation Z tends to gravitate toward careers in health care, education and philanthropy.
He studies career expectations of young workers, the changing nature of careers and career development.
