Prof. Jamie Gruman authored a Psychology Today story on May 15 about how the pursuit of happiness might just make you miserable.

He said happiness is unlike other goals that require elbow grease to come to fruition. A professor in the Department of Management, Gruman says he developed a test with his students called the “Need for Happiness Scale” to measure the degree to which people made being happy a priority in their lives. He concluded that it’s best not to think about happiness too much.

Gruman studies well-being in the workplace and positive organizational behaviour among employees.
