Prof. Mike von Massow appeared in several national media reports on May 9 talking about Canada’s “breakfast wars” as McDonald’s Canada has added bagels to its menu, putting it in competition with other major restaurant chains.

A professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics, Von Massow was interviewed by The Huffington Post, Toronto Star and the National Post. He said that despite the growing competition and whatever the brand rankings surveys suggest, Tim Hortons remains a popular breakfast choice for Canadians. The long lineups of morning customers are evidence, he says.

Von Massow studies structure and performance of food value chains, economics of food demand and pricing strategy.
