Prof. Scott Weese

Prof. Scott Weese is featured in April 17 Washington Post and CBC News stories about a study that found roughly one in four mice in New York City tested positive for at least one antimicrobial-resistant gene.

In the articles, Weese says this result isn’t surprising, as pets, food animals and wildlife can carry a wide range of resistant bacteria.

Weese, a professor in the Department of Pathobiology, researches antimicrobial resistance, bacterial infections in animals and humans, and emerging infectious diseases and infection control in animals.
