The University of Guelph’s draft Executive Compensation Framework is now available for review and comment by the U of G community.
The framework outlines compensation arrangements for U of G’s president and four vice-presidents.
All Ontario broader public-sector employers, including universities, colleges, hospitals, school boards and government agencies, were required to develop such frameworks in keeping with the 2017 Ontario Regulation 400/17 that supports the Broader Public-Sector Executive Compensation Act (BPSECA).
Introduced in 2014, the BPSECA authorized the government to establish frameworks and outline principles for broader public-sector employers to follow in managing executive compensation programs. This includes ensuring a consistent and evidenced-based approach to setting compensation; a balance between managing compensation costs and attracting and retaining talent; and transparency in how executive compensation decisions are made. U of G’s draft framework complies with those requirements.
Having been reviewed and approved by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development, the framework is now available for review and comment for a 30-day public consultation period. Members of the U of G community are invited to review and comment on the draft Executive Compensation Framework, which is available online at: https://www.uoguelph.ca/secretariat/executivecompensation Email comments to: eccomment@uoguelph.ca
