Prof. Keith Warriner was featured in a CBC Marketplace investigation examining the health and safety of in-store cosmetic testers.

A professor in U of G’s Department of Food Science, Warriner tested makeup samples for CBC and said that sharing makeup is risky, likening it to sharing a toothbrush. He said Staphylococcus aureus bacteria are common in humans and that while your body might be used to the strains you’re exposed to every day, the strains of a stranger could cause infections such as sties or pink eye.

Warriner researches food safety, food microbiology and pathogens.
