Prof. Gary EllisProf. Gary Ellis was interviewed in a Feb. 20 Toronto Star story about how the Toronto Police Board is considering issuing more tasers to front-line officers.

Ellis, head of the University of Guelph-Humber’s justice studies program and a former Toronto police superintendent, spoke about how tasers are less lethal than firearms and more effective than batons. He said use of tasers requires strong regulations, reporting, supervision and transparency.

Ellis researches justice and policing, crisis communications and organizational change.
