Prof. Emma Allen-Vercoe was featured in a Feb. 16 article in STAT about research in her Robogut lab at the University of Guelph.

The STAT article got picked up by Scientific American.

A professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Allen-Vercoe explained to STAT how she studies bacteria from human waste and their reaction to various gut conditions. The article reported that Allen-Vercoe’s expertise in growing species of finicky bacteria has captured the interest of the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

Allen-Vercoe studies normal human gut microflora, both in disease and in health.
