Prof. Nigel Raine, School of Environmental Sciences, was featured in a National Public Radio news story Jan. 27 on how honeybees are hurting the environment.

Honeybees were originally imported from Europe, and raised and managed by beekeepers in order to make honey or to pollinate crops. In many landscapes, farmed honeybees can compete with wild bees for food, making it harder for wild species to survive.

In the story, Raine discusses the importance of wild pollinators for food production and reproduction of wild plants.
