Guelph Hillel presents Holocaust Education Week 2017 Nov. 5 – 10 at U of G. Events throughout the week encourage our community to reflect on the atrocities of the Holocaust.

Cattle Car Exhibit – all week

An all-new, interactive exhibit will be featured in a cattle car installed in Branion Plaza. This replica of railcars used to transport Jews to labour and concentration camps during World War II Cattle car on display in Branion Plazaincludes images, multimedia and stories.

Remembering the Holocaust: A Survivor’s Testimony – Nov. 9

Holocaust survivor Howard Chandler, who has three grandchildren studying at U of G, will speak Nov. 9, beginning at 6 p.m. in the University Centre’s Peter Clark Hall. All are welcome. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Shabbat Dinner with Guest Speaker Dr. Bernd Wollschlaeger – Nov. 10

An open Shabbat dinner will be held Friday evening in Peter Clark Hall, beginning at 7 p.m. Dr. Bernd Wollschlaeger shares his talk “Against All Odds, Change is Possible,” in which he shares his personal story of learning about his father’s past as a decorated Nazi officer and Wollschlaeger’s later conversion to Judaism. All are welcome. Registration required for dinner.
