Population medicine professor Jan Sargeant has been named a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, considered one of the highest honours for individuals in the Canadian health sciences community.
The Ontario Veterinary College professor was inducted into the Academy Sept. 14 during a ceremony in Ottawa.
Sargeant studies zoonotic diseases – or infections passed from animals to people — and microbial food safety.
Academy Fellows are recognized by their national and international peers for contributions to the promotion of health science.
