Prof. Ross McKitrick, Economics, wrote an op-ed column for the Financial Post Nov. 16. In it, he examines the federal Liberals plan to reduce carbon while increasing immigration and income. McKitrick wrote that there are several challenges involved with this strategy, and that the government needs to come up with a credible, realistic plan in order for this to be possible. He noted that drastically reducing carbon emissions can be costly and negatively affect income growth. McKitrick studies environmental economics, global warming and taxes on carbon emissions, and government energy policy.
