Close to 1,000 University of Guelph alumni are expected back on campus June 10-11 for Alumni Weekend, including members of the graduating classes of 1951 and 1966 for their 65-year and 50-year reunions, respectively.
This year’s festivities include the annual Friday night Alumni Awards of Excellence gala, more than 20 class reunions, a photo scavenger hunt, a tour of the dairy research facility in Elora, the popular ice cream technology tour and a dance with live music open to the community.
June 11 will feature the Alumni Pub Night, which includes a craft beer tasting, buffet dinner and live entertainment by the local GMOs band.
Len Lillie, honorary chair of this year’s Alumni Weekend, was part of the class of 1966.
“Alumni Weekend is a great time to reconnect with friends, classmates, teammates and roommates,” he said.
“Whether it’s your first reunion or your 50th, I hope you will come back to campus for this annual celebration of the University of Guelph.”
Campus tours will feature the newly renovated Macdonald Hall, the Arboretum and engineering facilities, including a tour of the robotics lab.
