CF331-09S-Saleh-Tarek-06-MTarek Saleh has been appointed chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the Ontario Veterinary College. He begins Sept. 1.

Saleh is currently a professor and chair of the Department of Biomedical Science at Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island. He earned a doctorate from the University of Western Ontario and was a post-doctoral researcher in neurophysiology at the University of Calgary.

“Tarek brings significant experience to this position, having led successful research teams and mentored many early-career faculty and graduate students,” said OVC dean Jeffrey Wichtel.

He said Saleh is a well-respected investigator in neuroscience and cardiovascular research with extensive teaching experience.

“I look forward to working with Tarek in his role as chair to continue to build successful interdisciplinary research teams and enhance our teaching and learning opportunities in both the DVM, undergraduate and graduate programs at OVC,” Wichtel said.

In making the announcement, Wichtel thanked members of the search committee and outgoing chair Neil MacLusky, who completes his term Aug. 31.
