A University of Guelph professor has been named president-elect of the organization governing and regulating the engineering profession in Ontario.
Prof. Bob Dony, School of Engineering, was elected by members of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). The organization oversees licensing and discipline of engineers and engineering companies.
Previously vice-president and councillor-at-large, Dony will begin his term as president-elect in April, and will hold the office of president for one year starting in April 2017.
“It’s an honour to continue the strong tradition of the U of G School of Engineering in the professional engineering community,” he said.
“I see this as an opportunity to spotlight our unique programs and innovative curriculum here at Guelph both provincially and nationally. I’m hoping to strengthen the ties between universities and the PEO, as well as ensure that the voices of the next generation of engineers are heard.”
