An CBC The National news story featuring an Ontario Veterinary College professor who studies diseases that can jump between animals and humans has been rescheduled to March 18.
Scott Weese will discuss his research on companion animal antimicrobial resistance and “superbugs” with CBC reporter Kelly Crowe. Weese will talk about the need for further regulations and drug control within human and veterinary medicine, and the repercussions and risks involved with resistance.
A professor in the Department of Pathobiology, Weese holds the Canada Research Chair in Zoonotic Diseases. He also belongs to U of G’s Centre for Public Health and Zoonoses (CPHAZ), a group of researchers and agencies helping to control animal-related diseases that threaten human health, from bird flu to E. coli O157:H7.
OVC has produced a “behind the scenes” video of Weese with CBC reporter Kelly Crowe.
