Franco Vaccarino will be installed as the eighth president and vice-chancellor of the University of Guelph Saturday, Sept. 27 during a ceremony that begins at 4:30 p.m. in War Memorial Hall.

Chancellor David Mirvish and Board of Governors chair Dick Freeborough will be among the guests speaking at the ceremony.

The installation will begin with a procession that will include Guelph faculty, students and staff; dignitaries; former U of G presidents; and current presidents and vice-presidents of other Canadian universities and colleges.

The ceremony is open to the U of G community and general public.

People who plan to join the academic procession should register online in advance.

Vaccarino was named U of G’s president in January and started his new position August 1.

Formerly, he was principal of the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) and vice-president at the University of Toronto.
