Last fall, the University of Guelph and Urban Strategies Inc. received recognition from the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) for the recent update to the University’s Campus Master Plan.

The OPPI awards are widely regarded as among the most prestigious awards given for planning achievement in Ontario. The campus document earned an Excellence in Planning Award in the category of urban/community design.

Urban Strategies Inc. was engaged by the University to conduct the 2012 Campus Master Plan update. The urban design firm received two additional OPPI awards – with the City of Guelph for the Guelph Downtown Secondary Plan and with Hariri Pontarini Architects and the City of Toronto’s Planning Division for the research project “Tall Buildings: Inviting Change in Downtown Toronto.”

The annual OPPI awards program recognizes achievement and innovation in five categories: urban/community design, municipal statutory planning studies, community planning and development, research/new directions, and communications/public education.
