The University of Guelph’s Department of Athletics raised nearly $9,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph during the charity’s 37th annual Bowl For Kids Sake held earlier this month. A check was presented to Big Brothers Big Sisters during the annual University athletics banquet Thursday night.

This was the third year U of G athletes have taken part. In total, they have raised more than $45,000 for the charity.

“Our community gives Gryphon athletes so much support, so it’s great to have Bowling for Kids Sake to show our support for the community,” says cross-country and track and field team member Jennifer Biewald. “Big Brothers Sisters of Guelph works hard to provide children in need with caring mentors they can form close bonds with, which is awesome because everything is always easier when you know you’re on someone’s team.”
