The annual Guelph Jazz Festival and Colloquium begins Sept. 7 with three days of workshops and concerts running through Sept. 11 on campus and in downtown Guelph.

The festival features jazz performers and musicologists from around the world, including colloquium keynote speakers Aldon Nielsen, Pennsylvania State University, who’s Sept. 8 talk is titled “Meeting Over Yonder: Parker, Baraka, Mayfield;” and Jayne Cortez, a poet and president of the Organization of Women Writers of Africa, who will speak Sept. 9 on “ Find Your Own Voice and Use It.”

Colloquium events are held in the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre at the corner of College Avenue and Gordon Street.
